Hello everyone! I don’t have any finished objects to show you this week… again. Hopefully next week! I won’t bother showing you my works in progress either, since they don’t look that different. I really am almost done with my “Hitchhiker” Shawl, I think, and the “Vida” Socks are coming along slowly but surely. I did do quite a bit of spinning this week though.
I finished the “Police Procedural” fiber I was working on:
I absolutely loved spinning this hand dyed fiber from Hobbledehoy. It’s 75% superfine superwash merino wool and 25% silk. I ended up with two skeins of a 2-ply, sport weight yarn, totaling 595 yards. This yarn is so soft and drapey, I think it needs to be a beautiful shawl. I’ll start looking for pattern ideas soon.
Next on my wheel is some hand dyed targhee wool from The Painted Tiger:
This colorway is “Forest”, and I have one pound of it to spin. I’ve finished the first 4 ounces of singles so far:
Targhee is such a nice, lofty fiber, and I’m really enjoying spinning it.
I finally caught a shop update from Voolenvine Yarns recently. If you don’t know, Kristin of the YarnGasm Podcast is the indie dyer behind Voolenvine Yarns, and she does beautiful work. I’ve been eyeing her yarns for quite a while now, so I’m really excited to add some to my stash. The first skein I bought is the “Venus Fly” colorway on her Gatsby base:
It’s a 50/50 merino/silk blend, 438 yards, and 100 grams. I love this green!
The second skein I bought is the “Life on Mars” colorway on her Blitzed base:
This yarn is 75% superwash merino, 20% nylon, and 5% gold stellina, with 438 yards in a 100 gram skein. This particular colorway is a one-of-a-kind inspired by David Bowie. I originally bought it to knit a pair of socks for my husband, who is a Bowie fan, but I think I like it too much to not knit it into socks for myself. Turns out my husband isn’t really into the gold sparkle anyways, so yay!
That’s it for today, so until next time, Happy Crafting!
